Jennifer Parsons, Secretary
WHEN DID YOU BEGIN WORKING AT SHELBINA CHRISTIAN? WHAT HAS KEPT YOU HERE?
I was employed at the aluminum factory in Shelbina until it closed in May 1979. The minister here at the time asked if I would be interested in a part-time job. So, I took it. Every time I’ve even thought of seeking a different job – which was only a couple times – life circumstances made it reasonably clear that I wasn’t meant to leave. Plus, I have never felt the Lord leading me in a different direction. This church family is my family!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY.
Tony and I have been married for 43 years this past February. We were blessed with two daughters: Kristine who is married to Cody; and Sarah who is married to Jason. Grandchildren are the best (much easier than your own children)! We have four – Corbin, Khloe, Caster, and Hadley.
WHAT WAS FIRST JOB?
I worked on my parents’ farm. Then, as a Hardee’s order-taker in college (before they came out with the horrible commercials).
HOW ABOUT YOUR FIRST VEHICLE?
I didn’t have until I got married, and I really can’t remember much about it except I think it was a maroon Chevy. Tony would say that as long as it runs I don’t care about vehicles.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I’m not a musical person, but certain songs just speak to my soul.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE SNACK?
Chocolate comes first (Brach’s malted milk balls)! Followed by puffy Cheetos. However, those are addictive, which is why I don’t buy them.
WHAT’S YOUR IDEA OF A PERFECT DAY?
Doing something – almost anything – with my family. We all love state and national parks.
COST ASIDE, WHERE WOULD YOU GO ON VACATION? AND WHO WITH?
I LOVE travel and would go almost anywhere! But one place I have always wanted to go is to England with my brothers. Our ancestors sailed out of Southampton for America in 1630, and my father flew out of an airbase in England during WWII.
